My work for you to lurk

Katie Wann Creative
Still & Motion Product Photography

If you know anything about me, you know that saying that I “love” The Office is the understatement of the century. So, when a fellow creative popped into my inbox and said, “I need you to work your magic and also subliminally toss in a ton of references from The Office in your most witty way,” I knew I’d reached the height of my career.

Katie’s photography business is special in the fact that it’s lighthearted, colorful and fun, while still exuding professionalism and expertise. Because of that, we knew we needed to achieve a brand voice with her copy that sounded like her, let her audience in on her humor and wit, and still put strategy and expertise first.

What can I say? I love this site about as much as I love The Office. Check it out for yourself!

Florence James Collective
Full-cycle Photography, Videography & Set Design

Is there a kinder, sweeter or funnier duo than Jesse and Huzi over at Florence James Collective? (Answer: no, no there is not.)

FJC commissioned me with the task of overhauling their website copy to include a voice that exuded a bit of their wit and sass, and also improved their site’s overall copy strategy. They already had incredible visuals; they just needed the help to get their brand voice perfected and out onto their site, in a way that increased conversions and compelled those who were perusing to take action.

Over the course of two months, I partnered with Jesse and Huzi to create the copy of their dreams. I also provided feedback on quick and simple ways to alter or adjust the layout of specific pages (and their subsequent copy placement) to better engage the reader. Take a look!

Flair by KD
Brand & Website Design

When Karli and I first chatted about her existing website copy, there was one thing she said that stood out and remained in the back of my mind throughout the project: she just didn’t feel like things sounded like her.

Knowing what I knew about Karli’s approachable, casual, professional and kind personality and her education and strategy-first approach to serving her design clients, I took that feedback to heart. How could I take such a dimensional business owner, and bring her to life via a two-dimensional screen?

Karli described her brand as approachable, stylish, artistic, professional and casual. She also mentioned that she wanted to lay the proper groundwork to introduce more style and fashion content on her blog, and via social media. Because of that, I decided to play around with her name, Flair by KD. I focused on punchy one-liners and witty plays on the word “flair” to ultimately achieve a conversational, and yet professional, voice. Sneak a peek!
